At Denver’s 2023 Senior Law Day, experienced elder law attorneys, as well as a number of non-attorney professionals, hold more than thirty workshops, panel discussions, lectures, and other platforms dedicated to elder law.
This event is specifically designed not only for senior adults, but also for caregivers, adult children of older parents, and those interested in these issues. By 2060, the elderly population will almost double, from 50 million to 95 million. This extreme growth creates a number of troubling social, financial, and other issues.
Attendees with specific questions are welcome to attend a special ask-a-lawyer forum. This session includes a fifteen minute, one-on-one consultation with a Denver, Colorado elder law attorney.
The annual Denver Senior Law Day will be held at VENUE on DATE beginning at TIME. We look forward to seeing you there!
Agenda
As the over-65 population continues growing, the legal issues presented are expanding. Some of these issues, which Denver Senior Law Day addresses, include:
- Estate planning,
- The intersection of health issues and legal issues,
- Long-term care matters,
- Discrimination in housing and employment,
- Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and other government benefits,
- Relevant laws, such as the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and the Older Americans Act,
- Tax planning, and
- Family law issues, such as contact with estranged grandchildren.
In keeping with these overall concerns, some specific events for Senior Law Day include “ Hanging Up the Car Keys for Good,” “ Living Wills, Advance Medical Directives, DNR Orders, Proxies, and End of Life Issues,” “How Hospice and Palliative Care Can Save Your Life,” “Aging in Place – Maintaining Your Independence at Home,” “To Marry or Not to Marry—That is the Question,” “ VA Benefits,” “ What to do When Someone Dies,“ Assisted Living and Nursing Home Issues,” “ Estate Planning: Wills, Trusts & Your Property,”“Medicaid and Medicare 101,” “ Planning For Your Pets,” “Powers of Attorney and Guardianship & Conservatorship,” and “A Social Security Primer.” Scheduled events and speakers are subject to change.
Senior Law Handbook
Many of these issues are complex and difficult to digest in one sitting. Furthermore, not everyone can attend all sessions. Therefore, thanks to generous contributions from the Rose Community Foundation and our other partners, all seminar attendees will receive a copy of the 2023 Senior Law Handbook. This book contains summaries of the materials presented, as well as important contact information and suggestions for further study.
The Rose Community Foundation works to improve the quality of life for everyone throughout the Greater Denver community, mostly through its endowed grantmaking programs. The Foundation also assists and advises potential donors, helping them make thoughtful charitable investments which improve our community.
